She Broke I'm Up

I’m a senior at LCHS and the end of the year is practically here. We have 13 more in school days left until were gone for good. For this weeks final topic i’m going to be talking about my whole high school experience and how it was and how it was a great and fun chapter of my life.

So freshman year of high school was honestly kinda scary because I had no idea what is gonna be like or how anything worked, and I was even shorter then I am now. I was 4,11 coming out of 8th grade so I was kinda nervous. But I learned that I was scared for no reason because I honesty fit right in with in a couple of days so it was pretty good. I also found my best friend, Payton Cook. Which was really dope because I probably had some of the best times of my life and i’m very grateful. Then sports came in that was probably the peak of my high school experience. I played soccer and basketball my freshman year, and I almost didn’t play soccer my freshman year which i’m very thankful that I didn’t. Because soccer was a great help and brought great memories to life.

My sophomore year wasn’t that eventful it matched a lot of my freshman year. The best part of my sophomore year was the first time I started in a varsity soccer game against Mahommot the best team we played. To be completely honest I wasn’t scared one bit I was the most excited that I’ve ever been. But my junior year was a great year because that was the first time that I had a locked in starting spot for soccer. which was great. I ended up finishing that season with 18 goals the most I had ever had in 1 season, until my senior year.

My senior year for sports and high school was defiantly my favorite part of the experience. So for soccer my senior year was incredible the greatest season that i had ever had. I broke 3 school records and had career high 51 goals in one season which was the best. Then senior night for basketball was crazy. We one the game by 15 and ended the night with a no look pass to Payton for a dunk for last bucket of the night. There is also a really cool picture of me and Payton during the dunk, which was pretty dope.

So that’s pretty much a wrap on my high school experience. I had a great time here at LCHS. I hope my story was somewhat cool and that you have a great experience like I did.

So this weeks topic is still about LCHS basketball. This game was a very hard and tough game for Lincoln, because Macarthur was the best team that we played all year, 5th in the state and for 3A they were 3rd. They were an over all better team speed, skill, athleticism, height, everything.

So the game is getting ready to start and we are going into this game with a record of 23-5. This win would be very big for Lincoln. So that game starts and already Macarthur game out of the game with their high intense man to man defense. They also came out swinging with a high intense full court press. Which is very hard to get out of because it makes us handle the ball, and they were just over all faster so it was difficult. The first quarter actually went pretty well even with the low score at the end of it, 10-4 we were up.

We started up the second quarter a lot of the same way. But we ended up letting the go on a big run very quickly, 14-15 we were down. We did ended up pulling it back a little bit near the end of the second. Due to are very good shooting this game we ended up going up 3 with about a minute and a half left in the second 21-18. Then going into half Payton Cook hit a buzzer beater 3 putting us up 24-18 at the break.

The third and fourth quarter were pretty much the same they played their high pressure the whole game. We ended up winning the game by 13. Which is a very good out come for the game because no one including a lot of are players didn’t think we are gonna come anywhere close to winning the game at all

This was a very important part of the season, It was for sure one of the most important games of the season so far by a long shot. This is the first time we played Quincy at there place in a long time, I think it was like 2 years since we’ve been there, which is normally a pretty long time for basketball. But it was a very cool experience, Quincy is a 4A school so it was pretty big, probably the loudest games that I’ve every been to but a very cool environment had the coolest school intros and staring lineups ever.

So the game starts and we knew it was gonna be a hard game from the start, before we even played them we knew we are in for a rough one no matter what. The first quarter was pretty was a bit sloppy at the time it was a very low scoring game so by the end of the quarter is was only like 13-9 pretty slow quarter. The second quarter was more or less the same other than we put a lot more points on the board, I think we went into half time 25-19 we are down but it was still a good half. The third started and again we didn’t put up to many more points from either team but we were still down. But the the fourth came around and I’ll say that both teams exploded in the fourth, we took are first lead of the game and we ended up going up 5 with less then a minute, but the worst came we let them hit a 3 to bring them within 2 then they got a free throw went 1 for 2. Then we got fouled at the other getting us free throws we also went 1 for 2, and then they got a foul and one at the other end and they made the free throw. putting them up 1 with less then 30 seconds left. we ended up losing the game 40-43. It was a tough loss but it was a really good game from both teams Quincy just came out on top.

So the big focus in this blog is are Connellsville turny, we have it every year for the varsity boys basketball team right after Christmas and it’s a great turny because we play different types of teams then we normally don’t play in the regular season, they are way better faster stronger and all the above, another reason for that is. There are many other states that come to the turny so that allows even more unexpected basketball for everyone. Your granted at least 4 games in the turny, to find out what bracket your in that all depends on if you win your first game or not if you win you get put in the winners bracket if you lose you get put in the losers bracket then you have to play in the back gym if you win front gym.

So we didn’t do bad in the turny but we didn’t do as good as we should have done, we ended up going 2-2 which is very unfortunate. To be honest we should’ve won the four games we were granted, but we had 2 not so good games.

So the first game we played is Granite City all the teams that we played were pretty good but i’d say that this team was the worst team we played out of the 4 teams. we stared off pretty slow but we picked it up in the 2nd half got a good win by 20. The next team we played was Offalan they were probably the second best team we played but we also beat them by 20 are zone offense was great and they couldn’t find a shot. The third team we played was Belvillie East they were for sure the best team we played by far we ended up loosing this game by 8 and they were just a really good team. the final team was actually Connellsville we shouldn’t have lost this game we just didn’t come ready to play which was very sad.

So the soccer season is over and i’m right back into another sport, and that sport is LCHS boys basketball. It is a very different type of vibe when it comes to soccer in every aspect, every thing is way more serious. Basketball is the staple of sports at LCHS, that is one of the main reasons that it so important and extremely serious. So for future blogs i’m going to be talking about the season and all of the important stuff along the way.

So far we have had 6 games and are record is 5-1 which is a pretty good record for the start of the season, the game we lost we shouldn’t have lost we had a terrible shooting night and are execution of are plays were terrible we where 2-19 from the 3pt line, which is like really really bad. but we just had a off night and are a way better team form that game. but all of the other games that we have had we have actually played a very good game for the most part but the biggest problem is the execution of all of are plays, and we need to keep up with are defense because it takes a lot of practice and if we don’t keep up with it we will loose everything because ate defense is what makes are team so good are defense is very hard to get by and score on in general.

But so far the season is off to a great start.

So the year 2023 was a really good year for LCHS soccer it was the second best team that LCHS has seen ever in the program.

We had just finished are last season game against Charleston, that was also are senior night and we had regional’s in like 4 to 5 days and we had to play Champaign Central in the first round. which wasn’t great but they could be beat, but the only problem with this regional is that are regional is one of the hardest regional’s in the state of Illinois, so no matter what team we played out of the four it was going to be a very hard game to win and that’s just the first round. Well sadly long story short it did not go they way we wanted it to at all, and we ended up getting smoked 7-0 which is very sad and it was hard to not let your emotions go. But I do have to give them props they were a very good team but they did end up losing in the second round of regional’s to Normal West who was also and extremely good team. But yes that was the end of my LCHS soccer experience, it was very good and I was so happy to play with all of my teammates threw out all of my year as a kid, I’m proud to be a Lincoln Railsplitter.

The season truly ended a couple weeks after that final game we have a annual banquet at the end of every season, It’s basically we talk about how the season was who we are grateful for helping us out the whole season, and we also get awards and we get told records that we have broken. This season I got the offensive award, i got MVP, and i got the caption award. I also ended up breaking 3 records this year I broke the most goals in a season with 51. I didn’t break this one but I did tied the most goals in one game with 6, and I broke the most points in a season with 110. I also got all sectional first team. They also told me all of my rankings, I was 1st in the Apollo, 3rd in the state, 2nd in 2A, and I was ranked 19th in the nation in goals.

Soccer and European Identity

So the LCHS soccer season is running close to the end, and my last home soccer game was a foot. so it’s senior night and the last home game that I ever got to play in my high school career, very sad but also a very good night for many reasons. So the game is against Effingham they are not that good at all, we played them earlier in the season at their place and we beat them 8-0 but tonight was a special night for me in particular, I was at 46 goals on the season and I only need 3 goals to beat the record. The old record was set last year the record was 48 goals in one season, which in soccer that’s a lot of goals, but I only need 3 goals to break the record.

So the game starts and I ended up scoring the first goal of the game within 2 minutes from game time, and then about 2 more minutes after that I put in my second goal, I was one goal away from breaking the record. The third goal was a little harder to get because at this point the other team found out that i was trying to break the record. So they were going everything in their power to keep me from getting the ball. Sadly that didn’t workout so well for them, not to long after i did end up putting in my third goal of the night which secured the record, and the i did end up putting in 2 more goals for the night so i ended the season with 51 goals. After that I came out for the rest of the night it was the end of my senior night.

It ended pretty good to, it wasn’t just senior night it was also are kick cancer night, and we ended up razing almost 2 grand for this little boy, so the night ended with a bang.

The next game few games were pretty easy game so I will talk about only one of those games because the game where I broke the most goals in a game, well tied I share the record with someone else. So basically like i said before we were playing really ad teams at the time not a lot to talk about 2 game in a row where we 7-0 teams they were really bad. we also did the same thing to Charleston but this game was different. So from the beginning of that game we could tell that this team was terrible they just were not good, but the did actually have a pretty good goalie but their defense was pretty terrible and we had just tied one of the best teams in the state 1-1 so we were feeling really good. so the game goes one we were up 4-0 at half time and I had 3 goals already and i was thinking in my head that it was almost time to take me out because i already had 3 and we still had some seniors on are team that don’t get a lot of playing time that have never had a goal before, and were also that type of team that doesn’t like to just absolutely murder teams like 12-0 that’s just not right, so i thought i was done for the night but then he started me the second half and then i ended up putting 3 more in and the only reason why that happened is because coach thought that i only had 4 but in real i had 6 ad once he found out he took me out and i had tied the scoring record.

After the good win of PPHS we finally face real opponent, Springfield they are the best team that we have played so far, they were like really good we tied them last year and they still almost have all of the same players from last year.

So the game starts and we are actually are playing really good, are defense is normally what struggles the most and they were playing the best that I’ve ever seen them play, we actually held are own for the whole first half but then sadly the worst thing happened they ended up sneaking through are defense just enough and put one in the goal so we ended up going into the half time down 0-1 but we shook it off going into the second half, so this team was solid all around defense, offense, goalie everything they were a solid team. but one thing that I pick up on because i’m on offense and i play no defense, i noticed that their left center defender was their strongest, he was also huge but he got tired really fast. So they had to give him a lot of breaks so early in the second half he got gassed and they had to take him out and the second they did Chris Slack chipped a ball right over this defender that wasn’t as good and i barely squeaked in goal that tied up the game 1-1, and it ended up staying that way for the rest of the game we tied 1-1 its was a great game.

The Lincoln Community High School soccer team is in full swing and is going really good so far, we are 4-1-1 on the season so far. On a personal start to the season everything is going the best it ever has by far. Right now i’m tenth in the State of Illinois in points and I’m eighth in the state in goals. overall in just 2A i’m third and in the Apollo i’m first and one thing that i did pretty good is that i tied the most goals scored in one game. The record is 6 goals in one game and now i share the record with someone else.

So then we played are first game of the season against Williamsville and i will say that was the worst game of soccer that i’ve ever seen we played the worst ever I actually had a pretty good game but are defense is really young and for a lot of them this was their first varsity game every and the had a lot of nervs going into this game sadly we ended up losing 7-1 the best part was didn’t get shut out we ended up putting one in and the end.

But it was okay because we made up for it in the second game against Pleasant Plains. that was a great game for everyone are defense was in way better spirits we ended up winning that game 5-1 i had 4 of those goals and Adian Gowin had the other one and are goal keeper Hunter Bent have a very good game in the goal.
